Catherine A. Cooper, LMHC

If I take the time to reflect on my own experiences in therapy then I can appreciate the challenges of entering into therapy. The process of finding a therapist and becoming vulnerable with a stranger can be anxiety-provoking. You are more than welcome to take your time reviewing my biography and see if I am the right fit for you. I have always been fascinated by the psychological implication of the brain and human experiences.  I value connection and a strong therapeutic relationship and my approach is founded in science and research.

Catherine A. Cooper is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Masters in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling with a Certification in Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of South Florida.

South Tampa Therapist - My Clinical Experience

Throughout my counseling career I have worked with veterans, individuals in the criminal justice system, adolescents, complex families and many other demographics. I began my clinical work at a Florida Veterans Affairs Hospital where I worked with couples, substance use, anxiety and depression. Eventually, I moved into a diversion program which included assisting individuals within the criminal justice system. Additionally, I worked with adolescents transitioning into adulthood. Many of these adolescents experienced challenges such as anxiety, depression, self- harm and relationship issues. These experiences continue to shape my therapeutic work. I want you to know that I can hold anything that you may need to share without intimidation or casting shame.

Counselings Services - My Goal

I understand that everyone has different needs in therapy and I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all approach. I fully believe in the importance of a therapeutic relationship. I want everyone that walks through my door to feel understood, support, and empowered. I hope to witness growth as I operate as a guild along your journey.
