Our approach to couples therapy is not limited to just one therapeutic modality. Every relationship is unique, and we believe therapy should reflect that. We use the modalities that work best for you, which usually means combining different therapeutic approaches to fit your unique relationship and effectively address what brought you to therapy.

Our couples therapy intensives integrate approaches such as Psychodrama, Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Imago Relationship Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and trauma-informed care. This allows us to create an individualized experience that addresses both the relationship dynamics and the underlying experiences contributing to your struggles.

A couples therapy intensive weekend is a great way to get the most out of your investment of time and money. Rather than spreading the work across weekly sessions, an intensive provides dedicated time to focus on your relationship, explore longstanding patterns, and begin making meaningful changes.

One modality we have found particularly effective in quickly addressing past traumas that negatively impact relationships is Psychodrama.

Developed by Jacob Moreno, a contemporary of Freud, Psychodrama is an experiential approach to psychotherapy that has stood the test of time. Its core concepts have influenced many therapeutic approaches, including aspects of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and other experiential models. With us, you have the opportunity to experience the depth of classical Psychodrama, an approach that goes beyond simply talking about your problems to address the emotional wounds and experiences that have shaped your relationship.

Psychodrama helps address unresolved trauma and painful experiences that can lead to deeply held beliefs such as “I am not enough,” “I am unlovable,” and “I can’t trust anyone.” These beliefs often operate beneath the surface, influencing how we respond to our partners, navigate conflict, and experience emotional intimacy.

During our couples intensive weekend, we will guide you in becoming partners in healing the past traumas that may have been driving you apart. Rather than viewing each other as the problem, you will have an opportunity to better understand the experiences and wounds that influence your relationship and learn how to support each other in the healing process.

You may already have a great understanding of your attachment styles, your triggers, and the cycles you find yourselves repeating. However, understanding these patterns by itself has not necessarily brought changes in how you interact, how you feel, or what you believe about yourself.

This is where experiential couples therapy offers something different. Psychodrama provides an opportunity to move beyond intellectual understanding and experience something new. It can help you change how you feel, how you see yourself, and how you experience the world and each other. Rather than simply learning new communication skills, you have an opportunity to address the deeper emotional experiences that continue to influence your relationship. Yes, Psychodrama can be life-changing.

A Weekend of Transformation and Renewal

We are inviting you to a weekend of transformation and renewal. A chance to heal at your core and reconnect with who you have always been before painful experiences caused you to lose sight of yourself.

We all have a natural capacity for health, growth, and healing. Sometimes, however, unresolved trauma, relationship injuries, and longstanding protective patterns make it difficult to access that capacity.

Our trauma-informed couples therapy intensive allows you to lean into that natural capacity for healing while having the time and therapeutic support to explore what has been keeping you disconnected. It is an opportunity to experience love and trust again, both in yourself and in your partner.

Whether you are struggling with recurring conflict, emotional disconnection, unresolved relationship trauma, trust issues, or simply feel that traditional weekly couples counseling has not created the changes you hoped for, a couples intensive may offer a different path forward.

Your relationship deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and experience connection in a new way.
